Night Vision Guide for JSP3

Why night vision exists

Japan Stigmatized Property 3 splits visibility across camera modes on purpose. Press W to toggle night vision on the active feed. Some anomalies are readable only on the standard camera. Others appear only under night vision. If you park in one mode for comfort, you are volunteering for missed reports—and missed reports are how you approach the four-concurrent-anomaly fail.

This page assumes you already know the basic loop from How to Play and can complete a hold-click from How to Report Anomalies. Night vision is the skill that turns those basics into consistent clears on Sugiya Ryokan, Blue House, Kannonzaki Park, and Y Residence.

The two-pass sweep

On every camera, run two cheap passes before you leave:

  1. Normal pass — judge lighting, furniture silhouette, obvious figures, blood-like stains, and objects that should or should not be present in color/standard contrast.
  2. Night-vision pass — toggle W, re-scan edges, dark corners, outdoor shadows, and any shimmer that standard contrast washed out.
  3. Decide — report, mark as clean, or flag for a revisit after one ring if you are still uncertain and your false-report budget is tight.

Never invert this into night-vision forever. Standard-only anomalies disappear from your awareness if W becomes a lifestyle. The mode toggle is the mechanic; commitment to one look is the failure mode.

When to break the sweep

Break the two-pass rhythm only for audio emergencies. Knocks and moans often precede dangerous ghosts. If you hear them, finish your current hold if you are mid-report, then hunt the hostile feed immediately. Lingering dangerous anomalies fail the mission even if your concurrent count is not yet four. Pair this page with Dangerous Anomalies so you do not polish a night-vision corner while a moan-backed threat matures elsewhere.

Property-flavored night vision habits

Sugiya Ryokan — corridors and tatami rooms create long shadow gradients. Night vision helps on deep hall feeds; standard still catches many furniture and lighting tells. Do not tunnel on one hallway camera.

Blue House — residential clutter makes false confidence easy. Use night vision to confirm whether a dark shape is furniture mass or an intrusion, but verify again on standard before you spend a report.

Kannonzaki Park — outdoor and semi-outdoor cameras punish players who hate toggling. Ambient darkness hides mode-locked events. Make W part of every park feed, not a rare tool.

Y Residence — intimate rooms tempt you to trust memory. Night vision is for edges and doorways you skip when the center of the room looks fine.

These are habits, not lore spoilers. Randomized anomalies still decide what spawns; your job is to give every spawn a fair chance to be seen.

Co-op and thermal versus night vision

Online co-op (2p, PC↔mobile cross-play) adds a thermal camera. Thermal is not a replacement for W. Night vision remains the mode-lock checker for solo-visible anomaly rules. Thermal is a confirmation layer for heat-signature disputes and a way for partners to specialize: one player can own aggressive night-vision sweeps while the other holds standard-plus-thermal verification. Announce mode switches so your partner does not assume a feed was fully cleared.

Night vision mistakes that end shifts

  • Toggling W only after you already feel scared, instead of on every camera.
  • Reporting a night-vision smudge that vanishes on a second look without checking whether it was compression, a stain, or a real entity.
  • Forgetting you left night vision on, then misreading a standard-only anomaly as Normal emptiness.
  • Spending so long on perfect night-vision inspection that concurrent anomalies elsewhere hit four.
  • On Hazard Pay, using night vision anxiety as an excuse to over-report—your false budget is only three (see Hazard Pay Difficulty and False Reports).

Drills

Play a Normal shift where you verbally say normal and night before every camera leave. Play another where you intentionally clear with a partner who challenges any report made in only one mode. Then attempt a morning survival run using the plan in Survive Until Morning, keeping W cadence even after 03:00 fatigue.

For taxonomy of what you might see once both modes are honest, continue to Anomaly Types and the Anomalies Hub.

Night vision does not make you brave. It makes you bilateral. In JSP3, bilateral observers see dawn.

Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers for Japan Stigmatized Property 3 shifts.

How do you turn on night vision in JSP3?

Press W on the active camera to toggle night vision. Toggle again to return to the standard feed.

Are some anomalies only visible with night vision?

Yes. Some anomalies appear only under night vision, and others only on the standard camera. You must check both.

Should I leave night vision on all night?

No. Permanent night vision hides standard-only anomalies. Use a Normal pass and a night-vision pass on each camera.

Is the co-op thermal camera the same as night vision?

No. Thermal is a co-op confirmation tool. Night vision remains the W toggle that reveals mode-locked anomalies for every player.
