Cross-play Guide

What cross-play means in JSP3

Japan Stigmatized Property 3 lets PC officers share a co-op room with iOS and Android players. You still use room ID and password. You still cap at two players. You still work the 00:00–05:00 anomaly loop. Cross-play removes the platform wall; it does not remove coordination work.

If you expected Steam Friend invites to pull a phone player in automatically, adjust expectations now. Codes travel through your chat app. That is the supported path.

Before you mix platforms

  • Confirm both clients are updated.
  • Host on the machine with the more stable network when possible.
  • Choose a password without ambiguous characters that are painful on mobile keyboards.
  • Share ID and password as copyable text, not only a screenshot.
  • Agree who is PC and who is mobile so camera splits respect input speed.

Read How to Co-op for the base lobby flow, then use this page for platform-friction details. Thermal habits still live on Thermal Camera.

Input and pacing differences

PC players typically cycle cameras quickly with A/D, tap W for night vision, and hold-click to report. Mobile players use touch equivalents that can be precise but slower under panic. Do not assign the mobile officer an overloaded camera block on a cluttered map like Sugiya Ryokan unless they prefer that challenge.

A good default: give the faster input platform the denser wing, and give mobile clear ownership of fewer cameras with stricter accountability. Equal number of cameras is not always equal workload.

UX pain points unique to cross-play

Password entry typos are the top lobby killer. Re-type slowly. Avoid lookalike characters. If join loops fail, recreate the room rather than recycling a mistyped code for ten minutes.

Notification overlays on phones can steal focus at the worst moment. Enable focus modes before midnight. On PC, fullscreen and overlay settings can hide chat where the password was pasted—keep Discord or messenger on a second monitor when you can.

Performance asymmetry also matters. If one client hitches when swapping feeds, the smoother player should not assume the partner already checked a camera. Ask. Silence is how anomalies age.

Session etiquette across platforms

Speak in camera IDs, not finger-pointing language. “Cam 4, figure in doorway” works on every platform. “Look left of that blue thing” fails when UI scaling differs.

When the mobile player needs an extra second to confirm, the PC player covers their own block instead of stealing the report unless agreed. Stealing reports without callouts teaches bad coverage habits and causes double-clicks.

For Hazard Pay (特別手当), only cross-play with partners who already completed a calm Normal session together. Platform friction plus tighter false-report limits is a brutal first date.

Property picks for mixed teams

Early cross-play nights go smoother on Blue House or Kannonzaki Park if your mobile partner is new to touch reporting under stress. Save Y Residence theatrical pressure and Sugiya clutter for after the lobby routine feels boring.

Use the Properties Hub and Co-op Hub together when planning a completion route that includes co-op clears on all four sites.

What cross-play does not fix

Cross-play will not add a third player, will not create random matchmaking, and will not relax Normal versus Hazard Pay rules. It only lets two officers meet from different stores. Your edge remains baselines, night vision, owned cameras, and clean hold-click reports.

Treat PC ↔ mobile nights as slightly higher setup cost and slightly higher communication need. Once the password is in and ownership is clear, the horror fantasy is the same desk—just shared across glass and monitor.

End mixed-platform sessions by asking the mobile officer which cameras felt unfair to own. Adjust the next split before you chase another Hazard Pay clear, and cross-play stops feeling like a technical demo and starts feeling like a real two-person shift.

Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers for Japan Stigmatized Property 3 shifts.

Can Steam players co-op with phones?

Yes. PC can share a room with iOS and Android clients using room ID and password.

Is there platform-based matchmaking?

No. Cross-play still requires a private room. Exchange credentials outside the game.

Who should host?

Prefer the more stable network. Recreate the room if join attempts fail instead of forcing a bad code.

How should we split cameras on mobile?

Give touch players a manageable block and use clear camera-ID callouts. Equal camera counts are optional; equal clarity is not.
